Once you attend a Schooltime Series show, your students have an opportunity to participate in a contest.
1. We invite your students to draw a picture of either of the following topics:
• How I feel when I attend a show at Popejoy Hall.
• An expression of thanks for the show or the opportunity to see it. It can be for any show they have seen in the Popejoy Schooltime Series but cannot be for the NMSO 4th or 5th grade concerts. They may use any color medium on an 8.5” X 11” piece of paper formatted horizontally.
2. On the back of each drawing we need written very legibly:
• Teacher’s name, e-mail address and phone number
• School and grade
• Artist’s name, e-mail address and phone number
• A brief description (one sentence) of what their drawing expresses or
means to them. It can be as simple as “I love Popejoy” or “It made me
laugh and laugh”, “I learned people in other cultures are just like me
and that feels good”, etc. Make sure the writing does not bleed
through the drawing.
3. Please provide a return address on the envelope.
• Incomplete, illegible or folded entries will not be considered.
• Large, pre-addressed envelopes may be picked up at the kiosk in the
lobby before or after the show.
4. We will select 15 winning drawings from this season’s entrants to go into next season’s Popejoy Hall calendar. Student winners will each receive four (4) tickets to a Popejoy Presents Ovation Series show in the 2010-2011 season.
• We will also select drawings and quotes for Honorable Mention.
• All participating teachers, and each student with a drawing or quote selected, will receive two free calendars.
• Each participating teacher/educator will be entered into a drawing for a pair of tickets to their choice of two shows selected from the 2010-2011 Popejoy Ovation Series season.
5. DEADLINE FOR MAILING: April 12, 2010.
6. You are welcome to enter for each show you attend and send them separately or together at the end of the season. You can send all your submissions from your entire class with all Schooltime show drawings in one envelope.
7. We hope this sounds like fun but, what’s more, it fits into the Fine Arts/Visual Arts and Language Arts/Expressive Language Writing Standards and Benchmarks.
